Looking After our Staff and Customers

At Skipton Self Store, the health and safety of our staff and customers is our principal priority. We have therefore provided PPE appropriate to our low density business for our staff to use and have limited the number of staff on site at any one time.

Our reception doors are closed and only one customer will be allowed into our reception area at any time, to ensure control and social distancing guidelines are maintained. Our staff have intensified the daily cleaning levels of our storage warehouse areas, especially in the most commonly touched points. It should be noted that our storage warehouses are not crowded places and generally have a low intensity of use.

Our storage warehouses are also monitored externally out of opening hours to provide additional customer service and maintain security; this facility is continuing.

We would ask our customers to be patient - and to respect and observe our new notices and requests relating to the adjustments we have had to make to our current operations.

Why Are We Open?

Storage and distribution is listed as one of the businesses the Government has requested to remain open to support essential online and offline retail.

Our objective is to keep our self storage warehouses open –  so that our customers can continue to benefit from our secure services. Some of our business customers are distributing essential supplies and we are also assisting food retailers and wholesalers requiring storage of dried foods.

In addition, we have customers who have had a sudden need for short term storage triggered by the recent lockdown. Many of these are businesses whose retail outlets or distribution hubs have closed and therefore have an emergency need for the storage of their stock. Many are small entities using our services as mini logistics for e-tailing and online selling of essential goods. The Government has specifically requested that online retailing should continue.

There is also a continued demand for self storage from domestic customers. Although this demand is significantly lower than usual, some people continue to have an emergency need for secure storage space at this time triggered by loss of accommodation, cancelled university terms, cancelled house moves and delayed refurbishment projects.

However, we have to balance the needs of these customers against the regulations required to limit the spread of Coronavirus and that is why we have implemented the onsite and staff measures mentioned to limit any contact between our staff and customers.

We will continue to closely monitor information from the UK Government and Public Health officials, and to follow all guidelines to ensure we are doing everything we can to continue to provide a clean and safe environment for all our valued customers and employees.

Thank you for your understanding, stay safe.
